Budget Survey

Your Input Is Needed

In November 2025, the community voted on a school referendum that would have provided additional operating funds for Benson Public Schools. As a result of the referendum not passing, the district must find ways to develop a balanced budget, which will include budget revisions, as well as possible reductions.

These budget adjustments are unavoidable and will likely affect programs, staffing, and services across the district.

To help guide these difficult decisions, Benson Public Schools is asking for community input through an online budget survey. The survey opens February 1 and closes February 15.

Why This Survey Matters

The district does not want to make budget cuts. However, without additional funding, budget adjustment and possible reductions are required. This survey is designed to help answer critical questions, including:

  • What should be protected as much as possible?

  • Where should the district be most cautious about cuts?

  • What trade-offs is the community willing or unwilling to make?

  • How should the district communicate as decisions are made?

Your responses will help district leaders and the school board understand community values as they work to preserve programs and make difficult decisions.

Who Should Participate

The survey is open to:

  • Parents and guardians
  • Community members and taxpayers
  • District staff

Hearing from a broad range of voices will help guide next steps.
